16th Century Manoir <br /><br />This stunning house, furnished extensively with antiques, is found at the end of its own road, with no passing traffic, save the occasional tractor. It is ideal for large groups, who wish to holiday together without falling over each other! Dining room, salon and conservatory are all spacious and comfortable, and each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom.<br /> <br /> The house as it now stands, probably emerged in the late 15th or early 16th century, with the gothic front door more centrally placed. Traces of the left hand side of the house are still evident especially in the conservatory, with its stone corbels and the interesting structure in the corner which we believe was the base of a circular stone staircase, accessed through the little stone doorway opposite the downstairs toilet.<br /> <br /> By the end of the 16th century we have a fully fortified and defensible "Manoir fortifi?", with its large carriage entrance and foot entrance at the side, both of which no doubt had high wooden doors, opening onto, what was then a major route out of Carhaix.<br /> <br /> Fifth bedroom is in the romantic boudoir situated about 10 metres from the main house and within the ccourtyard. DVD player, Digital BBC ITV etc. Games provided include boules, table tennis, darts and badminton. Also available at Carhaix: - Karting, squash, bowling, sauna, and spa. From 21 to 23 July 2006, one of the biggest pop music festivals in France, the 'Vieilles Charrues', takes place in Carhaix.<br /> <br /> It features top international and French rock stars on three stages and street theatre acts. About 160,000 people of all ages attend the festival, which is noted for it's great party atmosphere, and unlike at Glastonbury, it almost never rains! And, best of all, a three day ticket costs less than ?45.
