APARTMENT IN THE CENTER <br /><br />absolutely new. very modern design. first floor living room, dining area, kitchenette and bathroom with shower. second floor large bed room with beautiful view overlookink the mountain of the lake of fire and sea and a bathroom with shower. fully furnished and fully equipped.<br /> <br /> This accommodation exceeded my expectations, and the apartment shows better in person than in the photos. Not only was the apartment very clean and contemporary, it was well equipped with everything I needed. The only exception was internet, but Patricia directed me down the street to a charming little cafe that offers free wifi internet access. (note from Patricia- internet already avaiable since Jan2012)<br /> <br /> Location is ideal, a pleasant short walk to Portas do Mar, a central hub of activity in Ponta Delgada. Walk one block toward the ocean and you’ll find yourself on the main avenue with plenty of restaurants and cafes. I enjoyed daily runs along the ocean front on this avenue. A great path is available for a leisurely stroll or run with lots of sights to feast on along the way. The best part was the ocean breeze, which can be felt regularly in the apartment due to its excellent air circulation. <br /> <br /> The kitchen was fully equipped. You may take note that the kitchen is not equipped with an oven, however, the microwaves does miracles. But seriously, eating out is so affordable in Ponta Delgada that you won’t want to spend your time cooking. In any case, be forewarned, stove top only+microwaves. <br /> <br /> Streets in Ponta Delgada are narrow and echoey. It was not uncommon to hear sounds from the streets below with the windows open, however, closing the windows solved this problem. Personally, this did not bother me, and in fact I enjoyed hearing the sounds of this island city. <br /> Patricia is a kind, informative and attentive host. It was an absolute delight meeting her and staying at her apartment. I plan to return to both the Azores and to Patricia’s apartment.
