This spectacular Caribbean compound, Great Expectations, is a popular St John destination, with amenities for every whim, and enough space for a family reunion, wedding or just couples vacationing together in a private home rather than an expensive hotel. The Villa's four air-conditioned Master bedrooms assure that no one feels they have not gotten a bedroom as nice as someone else; all 4 Main Villa bedrooms are the same spacious size each with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. Each of the 4 Main Villa bedrooms has a King bed (convertible to 2 twins) and private bathroom, walk-in closets, cathedral ceilings and patios on the east and west sides. The 4 Main Villa bedrooms are located in 2 pavilions for maximum privacy, separated by a Great Room with a large living room, gourmet kitchen, laundry room, half bath, and indoor and outdoor dining areas.A nearby 2 bedroom air-conditioned guest house, Beau Geste, with its own living room and kitchen, pool and hot tub, is also available for rent for larger groups.
Each of the 6 air-conditioned bedrooms has a private bathroom with double sink lavatories and enchanting indoor/outdoor showers. In addition, there is an air-conditioned exercise room, called The Club Room, which also can serve as a small bedroom bringing the total number of bedrooms to 7 with 7 1/2 bathrooms.
The Villa has its own private basketball/tennis court, swimming pools and hot tubs. It is within walking distance of 2 beaches and a short drive on paved roads to the famous white sand beaches and hiking trails in the U.S. National Park. There are grocery stores, shops and restaurants of every flavor just a 10 minute drive.
The Villa is furnished with custom-made teak furniture and carvings from Bali and, we think, very tastefully decorated with original paintings, sculptures, sconces and even a native mural which was written-up in the local papers. All the openings (sliding doors, windows and transoms) in this St John villa are fully-screened. Italian tile adorns the floors and kitchen and bathroom counters. Great Expectations does not pretend to be fancy, just very, very special!
