They are very clean beaches and you can see Cozumel on the horizon. You can walk for miles. Playa has a law that no building near the beach can be taller than 4 stories, so you’ll not see any tall buildings which is part of Playa’s charm. Playa del Carmen is a European as well as South American and North American destination location. Architecture is charming. People walk everywhere, including the pedestrian only, world famous, 5th Avenue. “The Fifth” is cobblestone, two miles long, and filled with restaurant and shops. There is a ferry boat dock that will transport you in 40 minutes to Cozumel, ranked one of the top 5 snorkeling and dive spots in the world.
