Wandering through landscapes of vineyards whilst enjoying the scents of lavendar, rosemary and thyme, you are on the edge the Parc Natural du Haut Languedoc, with its majestic views. Hiking, cycling, canoeing and horse riding are only a few of the many activities in the area. The Mediterranean Sea is only a 45 minute drive from Assignan. Other beaches nearby include Valras plage, Marseillan plage and Cap d'Agde. As far as river swimming (which is wonderfully refreshing), the Orb is close by and an excellent place for a dip or canoe trip. Hiking around the area along southern France's many natural wonders is a simple step out La Belle Ancienne's door.
