Your apartment is located between two of Moscow most vibrant streets; Old Arbat and New Arbat. Old Arbat is no longer a bohemian quarter as it used to be in the past, but nonetheless the artistic aura of this place is still very much alive; Here you’ll find street performers, artists who are offering original canvases, creative souvenirs, and Russian gifts. Moreover, this enchanting pedestrian street also possesses a striking selection of cafes, restaurants and bars. The side street on which this apartment is located has an intriguing history of its own. Serebriany Pereulok, which means Silver Lane, got its name from the silver coin craftsmen who used to reside in this area. But, these craftsmen are not the only ones who make this area legendary. Alexander Suvurov, the great military commander who fought the Russo-Turkish war and the Napoleonic wars of 1812, without losing a single battle, used to live right on this spot. No need to say, the site of this flat has an old history. Just a few steps from your doorway you can enter New Arbat, one of the newest streets of Moscow. New Arbat is probably the most prominent entertainment street in town. Here you’ll discover casinos, restaurants, bars, discos, night clubs and much more. For more relaxing activities in your area, you can walk the beautiful Boulevard ring, visit the famous Cathedral of Christ the Savior, or browse the collections of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. As can be expected, your apartment is within walking distance from almost all of Moscow main attractions. But, if you want to leave your area for an excursion, the metro is only a five minute walk away. Although this flat is in the center of all happenings, it is located in a quiet and calm area, enabling you to have a relaxing and splendid stay! Early in the morning if you open the windows you’ll hear the bells tolling from the street. The best cafes in the area are “Tarelka” – Gogolevskiy Boulevard 5/2, “Dvorik na Gogolevskom” cafe - Gogolevskiy Boulevard 4, “Buffet” - Maliy Afanasevskiy side-street 14/2. If you want to spend your free time in the restaurant, we can recommend: “Grand Imperial” (Gagarinskiy side-street, 9/5) a bit expensive, but it’s worth visiting, as it has the atmosphere of Pre-revolutionary Russia; “Monomah” restaurant of Russian cuisine (Soymonovskiy proezd, 7); Stariy Svet” restaurant of European cuisine (Gogolevskiy Boulevard, 14). If you want to buy groceries, you can visit the 24 hours shop with the sign “Producti”, which is situated right across the street from your apartment (Bol. Afanasievskiy side-street 16/8). The nearest bank is called “Rosselhoz Bank”, and can offer currency exchange and has an ATM. The nearest metro station is “Kropotkinskaya” just a 2 minute walk away from your apartment. In the evening, when you get tired of all these busy places, return to Bol’shoy Afanas’evskiy lane. The area around Arbat is much calmer, and as your apartment is situated in the Kropotkinskaya area (towards the south from Arbat) you have a wonderful chance to see some interesting houses, to wander in complete silence, visit the Church of Christ the Savior (the largest cathedral in Russia) or the Pushkin Museum. You’ll surely enjoy staying at our apartment.
