Area Description: Wild horses, nesting sea turtles and the world famous Bio Bay together with its miles and miles of perfect white sand beaches makes Vieques one of the last unspoiled islands. A tropical paradise located within US territory, only a few hours from New York.
The beautiful Island of Vieques is about twice the size of New York's Manhattan, with about 10,000 inhabitants and some 40 palm-lined white sand beaches. With temperatures in the mid 80's all year round there is plenty of time to explore the beaches.
Named "The Best Island in the Caribbean" by Travel & Leisure, Vieques is today the largest natural preserve in the Caribbean. Almost no island in the Caribbean, and certainly not in America's own Caribbean territories, can claim as many unspoiled, uncrowded beaches.

On the north side of the 21-mile (34 km) long island lies the town of Isabel Segunda, named after the Spanish queen Isabella ii under who's reign the construction of the last Spanish fort in the New World began. El Fortín has been carefully restored and strolling along its thick stonewalls you can easily imagine the time of the conquistadors. Today, host to the historical museum, it makes for a nice afternoon excursion.
On the south side of Vieques lies Esperanza, a pretty little fishing village, once a center for the islands sugar-cane industry, now the place to salsa the night away while sipping a tropical rum punch or a cold Medalla (the local beer) in one of the many restaurants and bars lining El Malecon (the boardwalk).
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway to a tropical paradise or that special honeymoon destination - Vieques is the perfect romantic escape. Enjoy a sunset cruise on a sailing yacht, explore the island from a horse back or discover the underwater world scuba diving, snorkeling or fishing.
A midnight dip among the liquid stars of the incredible Bio Bay is a truly unique experience to share with your special someone.

As Vieques lies within US territory, passports are not required of US citizens traveling to the island. English is spoken by most locals (Spanish is the official language) making your stay effortless. Vieques uses US currency and the same telephone and wireless technology as on the US mainland.
Rent our Jeep Cherokee Sport with the Villa for $60/day.
Drive along dirt roads to some of the best beaches you have ever seen: picture perfect with swaying palms and fine white sand, where the crystal clear waters turn from a pale turquoise to deep sappire before blending with the horizon line. Many of the beaches are within a 10 minutes drive from the villa.
With two thirds of the island under the protection of the United States Fish and Wildlife Reserve, Vieques is now the largest nature preserve in the Caribbean. From the villa you are overlooking large parts of the eastern reserve.
You can dine in one of the many restaurants on the island like el Quenepo in Esperanza or Coconut's in Isabel Segunda. When you feel the need for a little sophistication, French master chef Alain Ducasse (Plaza Athénée restaurant in Paris and Ardour at St Regis in New York) is collaborating the W hotels to open miX on the beach, a french take on Caribbean cuisine.
