Ever-changing water views are just outside the windows. Once here you can hike, paddle a kayak, rent a skiff or take guided boating excursions to experience the wonder of this unique area. The surrounding waters teem with fish and other marine life. You'll very likely find humpback whales nearby and you can also look for killer whales and other whale species who may be transiting the area. Numerous other species of marine mammals thrive here amidst awe-inspiring backdrops—sea otters, sea lions, and seals to name a few. This spot was originally patented as a base for one of the largest, most productive fox farms in southeast Alaska in the 1920’s. At the northern entrance to the famed Inside Passage, we are right next to the edge of the earth to the west, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and the Fairweather mountain range to the north, and the rest of the southeast Alaska panhandle to the south and east. All this potential food results in an abundance of sea mammals and birds and other wildlife. You will surely be able to see a sea lion haul out, sea otters, seals, humpback whales and numerous species of sea birds as well as multiple sightings of bald eagles, our national bird.
