Though modernization crept into this faraway region, Chiang Mai retains its natural charm & old culture.
History is a boon to tourists who can marvel at the archeological and historical artifacts that burst out of the countryside. Whether you want it or not, you will have to immerse yourself in history, but also in a smoking hot nightlife, as Chiang Mai has a bit of everything. If you are into shopping, Chiang Mai has one of the most exciting night-time bazaars of Thailand, where you can get great deals on silk and traditional hand made crafts. If you don’t feel like hiking or walking, you can enjoy a boat trip up and down the Ping River.
The city is also known for gourmet meals at affordable prices, with dozens of restaurants in the city, almost all of them are world class.
Chiang Mai is a gay friendly town if you know where to look for it!
