Area Description: Situated in the centre of the Italian peninsula, the region of Umbria is traditionally considered the green heart of Italy.
As a guest, you certainly will be enchanted by the dazzling views of centuries-old villages perched atop radiant, green, rolling Umbrian hillsides. Equally delighful is a visit to the ancient city of Perugia, the regional capital, to wander its narrow, winding medieval streets. A memorable experience can also be enjoyed in the dark, mysterious passageways of the old underground quarter, which run under the fortress at La Rocca Paolina, commissioned by Pope Paul III and built by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger in 1549.

In November 2008 my wife and I had the great pleasure of visiting Perugia and staying at the lovely Villa Nuba for the entire month. It was a fantastic experience. The accomodations were everything we could have hoped for. The beautiful apartment was comfortable and well furnished with everything we needed for an extended visit. We choose not to rent a car for our visit and soon found walking to the Centro (city center) or taking the convenient buses greatly enhanced our experience. We can not say enough good things about the hospitality of our hosts. In particular Guiseppi who was always available to answer questions, provide helpful insight, and assist us when local customs and language overwhelmed us. We especially appreciated his services as driver and tranlator for a successful excursion to find distant relatives in a remote village in the hills. Our wonderful experience of Perugia and the surrounding area was due in large part to our most enjoyable stay at Villa Nuba. We thank Guiseppi, his family and staff for making our vacation so special. Without hesitation we would recommend Villa Nuba to anyone visiting this lovely Umbrian city. David Gili - Nov 11, 2009 |
