We love the Onion House. Our stay there was the best - more than we expected. I waited 6 years to get in as our dates for Hawaii and the availability never matched. Once we got there we were not disappointed. We are returning for 2012.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Onion House. There is nothing to compare it to. The view....the staff... the comforts of home... We took 3 adult children that thought it was amazing and talk about it all the time. It was one of the best decisions ever made to stay at the Onion House! The surroundings provided an experience like no other.

We loved The Onion House. The house is unique and beautiful. We love The Big Island, but honestly the house was the best part of the trip. The staff is exceptional. They are friendly and anxious to make sure you are comfortable.

I first saw the onion house on the travel channel, and I always wanted to stay there. It took me over 10 years to get there, but I made it. I am so glad we made sure to include it on our family vacation, even my hard to pleese teenagers were impressed by the details of the house.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Onion House. Not only did we enjoy learning about the history of this unique structure; we felt one with nature and our surroundings. My husband and I traveled with our two adult children. If you are looking for a true native experience and do not want to stay in a resort, this is the place for you. The concept is open and very airy! I would not bring young children or older adults as there are many stairs and angles to the architecture. This was emphasized by the owner. This is a true Hawaiian treasure. BJ Lundgren - Oct 2, 2011 |

My husband and I honeymooned at the Onion House and had a most extraordinary time! It was almost like a fairy tale with all the friendly beautiful wildlife. We would love to stay there again for our second trip to Hawaii. The Onion House was the second part of our trip, we spent our first week in a condo near Hapuna Beach and then off to The Onion, our most memorable part of the trip

Loved every minute of our stay. We did not do as many activities outside of the home (and were talking Hawaii here) because the house was just so great. We didn't want to leave. We found ourselves rushing to get back everyday. The view, the pool, the location, the ease of everything, I could go on and on. There is just something about it. Its essence is just magical. You have to stay here to understand. Marjorie Baker - Oct 2, 2011 |

What a find! First thank you to Anne Morrison who was so friendly and helpful, the pool ladies and you, of course. Loved reading about the history of the home and what a contribution to save it. The place reflects your love for it everywhere you look. Needless to say, the onion house is one of a kind, a true work of art, but like all art, the three dimensional detail attracts additional attention from the light fixtures to the towel holders to everything else. The description of the place as “special, meditative, unique, spiritual” is not new age mumbo jumbo, but accurate depending on your disposition. I would recommend that people staying there get out in the first 48 hours or run the risk of never leaving (given the fact that they have stocked the requisite provisions) the place. It has a mesmerizing, peaceful, pleasantly seductive quality. I saw the beach the day before I left. I can’t think of anything to suggest. It was as close to perfect as a place can be. It taught me a lesson: if you want to really relax pick the place not the surrounding attractions or distractions. There is magic in not being in a four walled environment. Thank you Beth, I would love to meet you sometime, and you are welcome to contact me anytime you are in San Diego. Ben Hall - Sep 21, 2011 |

ALOHA!!! We had a great stay at your home. Words alone can not describe how wonderful everything was. I can only say that we WILL be back because we only did half of what we wanted to do. Your home was just too relaxing...we didn't want to leave. We are planning to come back either next year or 2013. We can not wait. Ben Hall - Sep 21, 2011 |

Aloha Beth We are back home in Michigan with only fond memories of our stay at the Onion House. What an incredible place, it far exceeded our expectations. The colors, the sounds, the smells were a sensory delight. I felt that I was a part of a living work of art. I could sense a great energy surrounding me. I am reminded of Henri Rousseau's painting "the Dream." that is what our experience was to us, a dream fulfilled. I want to thank you and especially your staff, you took great care of us. I believe that we have found a refuge to be able to escape to when we are in need. We will be back in the future. Mahalo, Frank & Debbie Pascoe Frank and Debbie Pas - Sep 10, 2011 |
