In 1917, Magistrate Mr. Rousseau sold the farm to Mr. Douglas Schuddinh, who in 1920 created the front door with the original doors from the Cape of Good Hope Savings Bank building. This historic entrance engulfs you into a home that is adorned with magnificent yellow wood beam roof and floors. A long and wide corridor leads you to the four suites and enclosed courtyard. Suites
Constantia Suite - A king size antique wrought iron, four poster bed centres the room. It is draped with soft white laced linen. A double door opens up to the veranda and garden area.
Paarl Suite - Two beautiful gable headboards featuring old cape Dutch ships decorate the extra length ¾ size beds. Separating the bed is an antique stinkwood hand wash table and two small wagon chests are found at the foot of the beds. Large French doors open up to an outdoor patio and garden.
Stellenbosch Suite - An extra length queen size bed centres the flowered gabled headboard. This large spacious room is set under the main gable of the homestead, allowing two large main doors to open up to the pool area. A magnificent early 20th century stinkwood cupboard, table and rumpies chairs, embodies the authentic Cape Style of the time.
Franschoek Suite - A queen size plantation style bed is set in this spacious room that is surrounded by large windows and doors. Living Areas
Lounge - This spacious open lounge greets you with two large beautiful Mexican oil paintings and bibliotheques adorned with fabulous books. The oriental rugs bring warmth into the room blending in with the various artifacts of the East. This area leads you into the two main corridors, a cozy study and a 14 seater dining room fit for private dinners.
Study - This cozy area features a large stone faced fire place that warms the room. Two open book shelves embrace it. Modern necessities such as desk top with Internet and printer sit next to the large teak desk. A flat screen TV with cable and DVD is conveniently placed for viewing.
Courtyard - This spacious enclosed courtyard is bright and airy. A large flat screen sits conveniently inside a teak double door cupboard. This is surrounded by white linen L-shaped seating. A perfect place to smoke, read, make a BBQ and entertain with drinks.
