Our family, including 3 young teenagers, had a fabulous time in Rome staying at Penthouse Monteverde. Il Giardino restaurant up the road was fabulous, and the market two tram stops further on, well worth a visit for fresh meat, fish, cheese, fruit & vege. The apartment is well located for trams into the city, quiet and peaceful. We would recommend hiring a scooter for the full on Rome experience! Thanks to andrea & his Dad for helping out with ordering our taxi to the airport and access to watch the Rugby World Cup final - Go the all Blacks! We would definitely stay here again. Stayed here for two nights when we first arrived in Italy. It's a top floor apartment in Monteverde which is just 10 minutes from the historical centre and is a few minutes from the nearest tram stop. The apartment is spacious with a roof top with an excellent view. The apartment has everything that you would need and sky in English is definitely a bonus!Andrea is very helpful and accommodating. Would love to stay here again if I go to Rome

This place was wonderful - a perfect way to spend a week in Rome. From spectacular sunsets watched from the terrace to a great area of the city to stay in - i am not sure it could be improved! Great layout, the air conditioning was a huge bonus in an autumnal heatwave, and thoughtfully furnished, with lots of books, maps and ideas for things to do. It really did feel like a home away from home. The free wi-fi was an added bonus. The apartment is in an older building that oozes charm, but does mean you have to be fairly hardy to tackle the 109 steps to the apartment with a suitcase. The area is fairly quiet but has some fantastic local delis and neighbourhood restaurants - and is a peaceful oasis after a day in the crazy Rome city centre. Parking in the neighbourhood is typically Roman madness so good luck if you are bringing a car. Parking anywhere in the city looked like organized chaos, but without any sense of organization, and anything larger than a Smart car just looked hard work. The apartment is about a 5 minute walk from the tram stop. Bring lots of 1 Euro coins so you can buy tickets on board (1 Euro gets you 75 minutes on public transport). The Tobaci over the road from the junction of De Lellis on the main road sells tickets if you want to buy them in advance. Once on the main road - you can walk 2 minutes downhill (opposite the hospital entrance) to get on a tram... but when you are traveling back home, get off at the tram stop after that one - and avoid a walk back uphill to De Lellis... Save your energy for those 109 stairs! The tram goes to argentina which is fairly central and means that you can pretty much walk to most of the sites from there - and takes about 15 minutes. They run from early morning till about midnight (later I think on weekends) - but, at night, make sure you press the 'stop' button in advance to request the tram stops at the next station to save yourself being shouted at by the driver. The trams are new and air conditioned and everyone is friendly and helpful. And remember to validate your ticket when you get on.. there are lots of machines on board to do this. The lovely owner booked us a car to take us to and from the airport (it's about 35 Euros), which was well worth it, although you can get the tram. In fact, the lovely owner couldn't have been more helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay. Oh, and bring some insect repellent if you are prone to being eaten by mosquitoes. I was eaten alive on a few evenings - though no-one else seemed to experience any problems. (A quick tip about repelling mosquitoes.. put a sheet of Bounce in your pocket! As someone who is mauled by the things wherever I go, it seems to work like magic in keeping them away. And you get to smell like clean washing.) I have no doubt that we will be back to Rome, which was an amazing city and, equally, I have no doubt that I will stay here again. I fell in love with the place. MashenkaV - Nov 15, 2011 |

We spent our last 4 days in Italy at this apartment in Rome. It exceeded all my expectations. The apartment was large, clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Tram 8 was perfect; it was the only public transportation system in Rome that we did not get lost on : ) It ran frequently and we never waited more than a few minutes to board in either direction. I loved having the opportunity to live in a neighborhood and visit the eateries the locals ate at. After a couple weeks of using public transportation in Italy we decided to treat ourselves with a cab ride to the airport. Andrea arranged for a "taxi" to take us to the airport on our departure day at 7 am. We were downstairs by 6:55 am and met by a beautiful towncar and a very professional driver - it wss better than we expected. We did not know what terminal we were to fly out of and we told the driver our airline and where we were flying - he dropped us off right at the door. Not having to lug our suitcases on and off the train to the airport was worth the additional 20 euros for this ride...and the best part is we did not have to arrange it! I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone traveling to Rome. I will definately stay here again - great service, great value, awesome location and a great "landlord".
