Private Island Vacation Rental in the Bahamas <br /><br />A private 9 1/2 acre island with just one beachfront 3 bedroom home. It is a private cay without resident staff since they all live on the main island (Long Island) within 2 miles away. We thus have complete privacy/seclusion. Little Deadman's Cay is of the coast of Deadman's Cay, Long Island, Bahamas.<br /> <br /> You will be renting the entire island. You will be the only people on the cay as our team does not live there and would normally only come when you call. They prepare the house and collect you from the airport and get you settled on the cay. The rental comes with the use of a boat so that you may go to and from the main island, Long Island which is about 2 miles away. There are stores on Long Island where you can get supplies and restaurants throughout the island. <br /> <br /> The first settler was a sailor who shipwrecked and made his way to the cay and built a home there, having married an Indian woman from the main island. The home is built on the site of the original dwelling. The island has a main beach and two small beach coves. In addition, it is within walking distance of an undeveloped peninsula 12 mi long with a continuous beach.<br /> <br /> There are three main swimming areas on the private island: beach side, snorkeling side, and on the western end with two olympic-sized swimming pools made by natural channels. This is a great fishing area. Fly fishing is also very popular in this area as one can wade the flats easily.<br /> <br /> Do note that living with solar and wind generation requires ceiling and portable fans; not a/c nor microwave oven. It has a gas stove and fridge. It, as a "green" home flushes toilet with recycled (grey) water. Engineers who visit are truly amazed at the finely tuned electronics. One might call it "complicated simplicity". Those who repeat year after year enjoy this alternate lifestyle but it is not everyone's "cup of tea".
