Shadow Run Cottage, A Magical Mountain Retreat <br /><br />Situated at 3000 feet on the slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain, Shadow Run Cottage is a magical mountain retreat. The cottage is a four year old dwelling that sits on 4.28 lushly wooded mountain acres and is very serene, tranquil and private. The cottage is a convenient twenty five minute drive to the charming historic town of Hendersonville and the same distance to the spectacular natural scenery of Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure. The cottage is about forty minutes outside of the vibrant and youthful city of Asheville and the renowned Biltmore Estate and the Grove Park Inn. The Pisgah National forest with hundreds of miles of bold mountain streams and beautiful hiking trails as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway are about sixty minutes away. The surroundings at the cottage are those of heavily forrested mountain lands with huge stands of Rhodedendrons and Mountain Laurels. Wildlife includes deer, wild turkeys, bobcats, coyotes and racoons. Bird lovers will enjoy seeing the rare Pileated Woodpecker as well as the joyous Hummingbirds that frequent the cottage's numerous flowers. Wildflowers are abundant along the winding mountain road up to the cottage. Shadow Run Cottage is self contained and has been thoughtfully provissioned for our guest's every need. Everything found inside has been newly purchased within the last year. We provide all linens, bedding, pillows, paper products, soaps, utensils and appliances. All you need to bring are clothes, food, CDs and DVDs! The cottage features a master bedroom with walk in closet, built in ironing board with iron, and opens via a french door to a large uppper deck that is the ideal spot to relax in our two wooden rockers with a mug of coffee or a glass of wine. It is equally ideal for stargazing at night as there is no distracting background light to interfere with the stars. Also upstairs is a very modern well equipped kitchen, dining nook and living room. Downstairs is a large bright studio room with a single bed, full size sleeper sofa, powder room and washer/dryer area. This opens via two french doors into a light and cheerful sunroom with a wall of windows overlooking the deep woods below. The sunroom opens onto an even larger ground level deck ideal for grilling, dining and just plain old chilling out. <br /> <br /> The cottage is pet friendly, and up to two dogs are permitted with a small additional fee. Rentals are available for as little as a two day stay to up to one month, with a discounted rate offered on stays over one week.
