This comfortable four bedroom home is only four years old and is located on a quiet road just minutes from Stratton, Bromley or Magic. Located on a road with access at the end to the West River Trail, it's perfect for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing from the door along this scenic path.
Our home features wireless DSL internet ALL YEAR!
Warm and friendly, the house is comfortably furnished for easy housekeeping including a fully equipped kitchen, all bedding, including sheets and pillows, and plenty of fluffy towels. Appliances, both large and small, are all new. A laundry room off the kitchen has an extra-large capacity washer and dryer.
Your well behaved, housebroken pet is welcome with proof of vaccinations.
A welcoming Hearthstone stove in the living area, which adjoins the large family kitchen, makes the home cozy on snowy days. An antique Dutch door leads from the kitchen to the spacious dining room.
The first floor features a wonderful master suite: a large king-size bed, sitting area, Satellite TV, and bath with two-person shower with rainhead and handheld showers, plus two body jets, with it's own window with river view. It also features a sunken whirlpool bath for two with two windows at tub level to watch the river go by. Double sinks, dressing table, and private commode area complete the bath.
Upstairs are three unique bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath: #1, queen-size canopy bed with its own ensuite bath with dual showerheads for two; #2, twin poster beds with its ensuite bath with whirlpool tub and shower; and #3, with 2 comfy twin beds with ensuite shower featuring dual showerheads for two. Completing the upstairs is a family room with a special closet full of toys and games.
South Londonderry is a tiny village that is typical of the lovely Green Mountains of Vermont. Our home is within walking distance of the Village Pantry du Logis for coffee, snacks and light take-out meals. You can also cross-country ski or snow shoe from the door along the lovely West River Trail.
Weston is just a short drive with it's Vermont Country Store and charming shops. Manchester, a shopper's paradise, is only 20 minutes away. The village of Ludlow and Okemo Mountain are 30 minutes away. Both Bromley and Magic are within a 15 minute drive.
July 1 through August 9, 2009, was the Vermont Summer Festival Horse show held at the Harold Beebe Farm in East Dorset. If you are a participant or spectator, we welcome you to stay in our home in 2010.
This summer, 2009, there are three spectacular meteor showers that can be viewed from our lawn: July 28-29 The Delta Aquarids - predawn, about 20 bright-yellow meteors occur per hour. Look for meteors to fan out east, north and west. July 29-30 The Capricornids - known for producing brilliant fireballs. It's best to observe right after sunset. If you can see the Milky Way, you'll probably be able to see this shower. August 12-13 The Perseids - look toward the constellation Perseus (about halfway above the horizon in the northeast quadrant of the sky) in the late evening. Recline with your feet facing south and look straight up. The Perseids should appear over your left shoulder...you could see 60 meteors in an hour.
Don't miss some special events this summer and the picturesque fall foliage season....
The Bondville Fair, August 28-30, 2009, features agricultural displays and contests, quilt show and contest, crafts, rides and games, music, bingo, truck, ox and horse pulling, antique tractors, clog and line dancing.
The 28th Annual Peru Fair, held on September 26, 2009, is rated by the state's Chamber of Commerce as among Vermont's Top 10 events. The homespun Peru Fair steps off with a 9:45 a.m. parade, followed by a pig roast, live music, dancing, hay rides and other entertainment. Dozens of local artisans and food vendors. Parking available at nearby Bromley Mountain, with shuttle buses provided to and from the village.
Columbus Day Weekend - October 10 & 11, 2009 - The village of Newfane hosts its annual Heritage Festival on the common, a two-day craft show with great food served by the local church. If you like apple pie, this is the place to buy a yummy one, have some homemade soup and apple cobbler a la mode. The festival features something for everyone. Eighty juried crafters share the picturesque common with a farmer's market, inside and outside food booths, flea and book table, super raffle, children's corner, and musical entertainment. It's usually a beautiful fall foliage weekend!
Our home is located on a quiet country road off Route 100, which "has been called the most scenic in New England" by Yankee magazine writer Michael Blanding. "In some circles, it's known as the 'Skier's Highway,' since it connects Vermont's giants - Mount Snow, Killington, Sugarbush, and Stowe - like knots on a whip." Let's not forget Stratton, which is only 15 minutes from our door!
"But this road really comes into its own in autumn, hitting the peak of fall foliage not once but many times as it traces and up and down course along the unspoiled edge of Green Mountain State Forest."
If you love tennis, the West River Tennis Club is only 5 minutes from our door.
For snowmobile enthusiasts, we're not far from VAST trails in Bondville, off Kendall Farm Road, or in Londonderry off Route 11. Visit the Vermont Vast site for more info and to purchase trail maps.

Beautiful,spacious,warm,comfortable,clean,charming,... and that was just the inside. The outside was just as wonderful. The gracious owners even had a surprise treat for my 4 legged baby which just put this vacation home over the top. None of us wanted to leave. There were 8 of us and at least 5 were in the overspacious, over equipped kitchen and we never tripped over or got in each others way. We highly recommend staying in this lovely home and hope to come back next year.
Thank you for a fabulous home base! Everything was great! Thank you again for a perfect stay!

YOUR home in Vermont is absolutely beautiful.......We did not want for anything (you thought of everything).........It was a MOST pleasant trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Your home is very large, very beautiful and very well maintained.
Out of our entire family - I must say Your home, our home, was the best of 5 or 6 homes rented........everyone was jealous.
Dealing with you was also a delight - very organized and very kind and true to your description of the home entirely.
Thanks again and believe me IF we do come that way again I sure will call you.
Janice & Dan, Lakeland, FL, Summer 2009
Thank you so much for the use of your lovely home. We had a great time! Also, we appreciated and liked all of the nice scented soaps. It was very nice also to provide dish detergent, paper towels and toilet tissue. We most definitely will consider renting with you again!! Thanks again for everything! Diane & Rick, Somers, NY, Summer 2009
We had a wonderful time and the house had a lot to do with that. We found the house very well kept and clean. Thanks again for the great experience. We will absolutely use the house next time we are in Vermont. Tyson, Colorado - Summer, 2009
The house was PERFECT! It was wonderful to wake up to the sound of the river every morning :-)
Thank you again for allowing us to rent your beautiful home, and we look forward to being there again next summer!
Peter & Elizabeth, Virginia - Summer, 2009
Sadly it's the end of the ski season for us. I just want to say how much we have enjoyed the use of the house, and appreciated your quick responsiveness to any questions we had. Thanks and best regards,
Rachel & Ed, Connecticut - Spring, 2009
