Bike trails cover the Island and are newly extended to reach to the Freshfields Village just outside the Main Security Gate. There is a fitness trail and a spa on the Island as well as shopping and restaurants. Bohicket Marina is located just outside the Main Security Gate and boats can be rented there. Also, there is a small shopping center with small shops and restaurants. The City of Charleston, SC is about 35 minutes by car and there you can find any type of store you can imagine along with restaurants and cultural activities like the Symphony Orchestra, Gibbs Art Museum, historical tours and museums, and an outdoor craft market.
