The cottage sits on a 1/2 acre wooded property with path to water, which is about 100 feet from cottage. There is good swimming with a shoreline combination of small rocks, gravel and sand. Also available is a public beach down the road at the Washington, Maine, pubic boat launch (carry-in only). There is good fishing with a chance to catch brook and brown trout as well as small and large mouth bass. There are pretty views across lake to undeveloped land. Neighbors are shielded from view by foliage. Canoe, picnic table, chairs, gas grill and dock are included. Guests at Avonlea must bring bottled water.
